VEGAN FRENCH TOAST

Ingredients:

 

Ezekiel or Dave’s or any WFPBNO bread

1 cup unsweetened apple sauce

¼ cup of plant-based milk (flax, oat, soy, almond)

Dash of cinnamon

Dash of vanilla extract

Dash of nutmeg

1 tbsp of ground flax seed

Peanut butter/ almond butter

Bananas

Dash of syrup

Instructions:

 

Use whisk to mix together; applesauce, plant-based milk, cinnamon, vanilla extract, nutmeg and flaxseed until smooth

Dip toast in mixture and place on non-stick griddle or pan on stove until golden brown

Once the French toast is cooked to your preference, add a thin layer of peanut butter or almond butter on top of your toast and sliced banana with a small amount of syrup

 

Ness’s special hint 1:

 

This plant powered French toast will take a little longer to get to the perfect golden brown than traditional French toast. The applesauce also makes it a little more sticky as well. Prepare to let each side cook for 4-6 minutes depending on the temperature you are using, I usually stay around 275-325 degrees on a griddle. If it isn’t to the perfect golden brown that you like to see than turn up the heat a little and cook until it is just where you want it to be!

 

 

Ness’s special hint 2:

 

 

You will notice that you do not need as much syrup (if any) as traditional French toast because the applesauce is a sweeter mixture than egg.
